transit time difference is important? big vessel need one minutes to transit ? small vessel need 30 seconds to transit?

In this exercise we explain why transit time difference is important? The moral of this exercise is: Small course alternation is not recommended for collision avoidance in COLREG. Small course alternation in dense traffic is better than sudden course alternation. Small speed reduction is not recommended in dense traffic area. Speed reduction is not equivalent to Engine output reduction. Like the rudder effect, noting at sea is in immediate effective. Decisive action did not come with decisive effect. Hard over rudder can have rudder effect only after 2 ship’s length distance run. Stop engine output to 0% can have coasting effect at high speed. Ship massive propeller cannot stop rotation or revolution while ownship stop the engine. Propeller has to follow the current go through ship’s hull while vessel stops engine output in high speed. In bridge equipment presentation, speed and propeller revolution are two things. We have idea of how many turning rate is too much to control? We don’t have a clue how much speed reducing rate is enough to avoid the collision?
