2. How many degrees turn is need to avoid collision in one nautical miles ?
A : 20 degrees
3. How many speed reduction is needed in one nautical miles to avoid the collision?
A : 3 knots , but remember this is average speed. Actual 15 knots speed now, your engine speed should go 9 knots which make a average of 12 knots.
4. 3 knots speed change in three minutes give us (1.5 cable space) to avoid the collision point.
5. This 1.5 cable distance changed by speed reduction give us more time at 9 knots is (one minutes.)
Hope other vessel can get away by this extra one minute.
